Rep. Gabrielle Giffords led the Pledge of Allegiance during a candlelight vigil at the UA marking the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 8 shootings in Tucson. The event included remarks by Giffords' husband, Mark Kelly; UA President Eugene G. Sander; Dr. Peter Rhee from The University of Arizona Medical Center; and Ron Barber, a shooting survivor and founder of the Fund for Civility, Respect and Understanding.  Thousands of people who attended held glow sticks in honor of the victims and were treated to a performance by Tucson’s Calexico.
