The UA's community attracted strong national and international attention this year. Some of the noteworthy news items for 2012 are: UA President Ann Weaver Hart took the helm; the UA Cancer Center-Phoenix gained final approved; the world's most advanced mirror for the Giant Megellan Telescope was completed at the UA; UA alumna Savannah Guthrie was named co-Anchor of "Today"; Wildcats represented the UA during the Olympics and Paralympics in London, with some earning medals; and the baseball team took a NCAA title.
