The UA was ranked high for publishing highly cited research in influential journals. The citation score for UA among the top 100 was 49, influence was 57 and publications was 60.
"The UA faculty is renowned for pushing back the boundaries of what we know about our world and beyond. Their record of publishing in the top journals and earning the citations of their peers puts the UA among the best research universities in the world," said Andrew C. Comrie, UA senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.
CWUR claims its rankings are unique, based solely on quantitative data, including the number of faculty research publications, journal impact scores, number of citations, patents and quality parameters created by CWUR. Most of the focus is on research achievements. Faculty quality is measured by number of significant honors and awards won by full-time faculty, and educational quality was tied to the number of alumni who have won awards, medals and prizes relative to the current number of students.
This is the second year for the CWUR, based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The methodology and full list of institutions are available at http://cwur.org.
