The Arizona senior is one of 38 candidates identified for the honor handed out annually to the nation's top collegiate quarterback.
Arizona senior quarterback Nick Foles has been named one of 38 preseason candidates for the Davey O'Brien Award Watch List, presented annually to the nation's top collegiate quarterback.
Foles, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound signal caller, has led an explosive Wildcat offensive attack over the last two seasons. He has thrown for 5,677 and 39 touchdowns in 21 starts over the last two seasons, completing an impressive 65.4 percent of his pass attempts.
His career passing yards and passing touchdown totals each rank No. 7 in school history in the respective categories.
As a junior, Foles threw for a career high 3,191 yards with 20 touchdowns in 2010. The scoring tosses tied for third-most in program history for a quarterback, while his 63.41-percent completion percentage was the second-best single season mark.
In his two-year career at Arizona, Foles has eight 300-yard passing games and three 400-yard contests. He has thrown three or more touchdown passes in a single game on seven occasions. In his last 17 starts, Foles has thrown multiple interceptions in just one game.
Foles, a two-time All-Pac-10 honorable mention selection, is also on the 2011 Maxwell Award Watch List, which recognizes the nation's most outstanding player.
