Atlanta Airport Executive Named New UA Chief Financial Officer
Milton M. Castillo, currently the chief financial officer and assistant general manager at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, will be the UA's next senior vice president for business affairs and chief financial officer.
President Robert N. Shelton today announced that he has selected Milton M. Castillo, currently the chief financial officer and assistant general manager at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, to be the University of Arizona's next senior vice president for business affairs and chief financial officer.
Castllo is expected to begin his appointment at the UA on Jan. 10, 2011.
Castillo is responsible for all accounting and financial operations at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which is the busiest airport in the world with approximately 90 million passengers annually and is an enterprise with $6.7 billion in assets.
Castillo brings 20 years of experience in accounting and finance, including auditing, budgeting and forecasting, capital markets, corporate and investment finance, mergers and acquisitions, Securities and Exchange Commission reporting and strategic planning.
"I am truly excited to join the University of Arizona, and I look forward to working with President Shelton and the rest of the leadership team to support and advance the University's mission of excellence in teaching, research and public service," Castillo stated.
"Milton brings a wealth of financial experience to this position," Shelton said. "He will be a tremendous addition to our leadership team, and we are delighted that he will be joining us at the University of Arizona."
Castillo will be a member of Shelton's cabinet and will serve as chief advisor to the president and provost on business and financial matters. He replaces Joel Valdez, who retired in June after a 20-year tenure at the UA.
Prior to joining the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Castillo was vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Concessions International. He was responsible for all accounting and financial operations at the airport concessions company.
Castillo is a graduate of Emory University and has been licensed as a certified public accountant in Georgia since 1992. He is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He started his career in 1990 with Arthur Andersen & Company.
