Men's Basketball to Close Road Swing at ASU on Saturday

The No. 7 Arizona men's basketball team (15-1, 3-1 Pac-12) will close a three game road swing on Jan. 19 at intrastate rival Arizona State University (14-3, 3-1 Pac-12) in a nationally televised game on FOX Sports Net. Three of the last six series meetings at Wells Fargo Arena have been decided by seven points or less, with the teams splitting those results.

Arizona Adds Women's Sand Volleyball

The UA has added women's sand volleyball as a varsity sport. The sport, which enjoys a spring competition schedule, will be the 20th varsity sport sponsored by Arizona Athletics. Steve Walker has been named the new program's first head coach. Official competition will begin in spring 2014.

UA alumnus Louis Sands IV, known as “Buzz” to his friends, has made a $10 million commitment to the Lowell-Stevens Football Facility at the UA. His gift is a significant investment in the Arizona football program and the entire athletics program. A club that will serve as a gathering space for select football ticket holders will be named in his honor.

A Top-10 Men's Basketball Showdown at McKale on Saturday

Eighth-ranked Arizona (7-0, 0-0 Pac-12) will return to McKale Memorial Center to host fifth-ranked Florida (7-0, 0-0 SEC) on Dec. 15 on ESPN. The game will be the first in December, and just the fourth of the college basketball season, featuring two top-10 ranked teams. It will be the first time two top-10 teams have met in McKale since Jan. 10, 2004.

Football's Ka'Deem Carey a Consensus All-American

Arizona sophomore running back Ka'Deem Carey has been named an Associated Press First-Team All-American, the news bureau announced this week. With his three awards from the four NCAA-recognized lists that have been announced (The Sporting News, Walter Camp and AP), Carey is a consensus All-American for the 2012 season.
