UA Softball: 2013 Season Outlook

The 2013 Arizona softball team is balancing youth and inexperience at the NCAA Division I level with a high level of chemistry and talent. ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 has ranked the Wildcats No. 14 heading into the season, while the USA Today/NFCA poll has Arizona at No. 13.

NBA's Derrick Williams to Partner in New Men's Store in Downtown Tucson

Motivation comes in many forms. For Mario Escalante, it came in the form of a close friend, NBA forward and former UA basketball player Derrick Williams. The duo have teamed up to open a streetwear store for men downtown called VII Grand, which is scheduled to open Feb. 15.

Cultivating Champions

In 2012, the UA baseball team won the title of national champions. Under the leadership of head coach Andy Lopez, the win marked the team’s fourth national championship since its first official season in 1904. The win also marked a new moment for the team and staff alike, as the bar for this season has been set at the highest height.

UA Track and Field Athletes Set National, UA Records

The Wildcats set two school records, a national record and the top time in the world on Jan. 26 at the Razorback Invitational. Junior Lawi Lalang made his 2013 season debut by breaking his own school record in the 3,000-meter race. In the 400-meter run, senior Georganne Moline clocked a personal-best time of 53.27, an indoor school record.

Yoga Program Honors Memory of UA Student

Jessica Stebbins was deeply devoted to establishing a yoga program at the UA designed for individuals with low mobility and disabilities, such as herself. After Stebbins died in December 2011, UA students carried her dream forward and since have founded the Yoga for Any Body club and a class by the same name.

Wildcats to Host UCLA, Whiteout, Thursday on ESPN2

The No. 6 Arizona men's basketball team (16-1, 4-1 Pac-12) will return home for a pivotal Pac-12 match-up against UCLA (15-4, 5-1 Pac-12) on Jan. 24 in McKale Memorial Center. The game - set for 7 p.m. MST on ESPN2 - will mark the third annual "whiteout" in the UA's legendary home facility.
