Three Ford/Zona Swimmers Headed to 2012 Olympic Games

Matt Grevers, Clark Burckle and Alyssa Anderson will compete in the 2012 Olympic Games, which begin July 27. Of the 56 swimmers that competed for the UA and Tucson Ford Aquatics at the Olympic Trials, there were 18 appearances in final rounds and 28 in semifinals.

The UA baseball team's move to Hi Corbett Field was a model of city-university cooperation, writes the Arizona Daily Star: "And now we all know just how well it's turned out. A team that in 2010 drew as few as 384 fans to games, this year averaged 2,628 – leading the Pac-12" – and won the national championship.

Andy Lopez Named National Coach of the Year

Collegiate Baseball newspaper has named Arizona head baseball coach Andy Lopez the National Coach of the Year. This is the third time he has won the award in his career. Lopez led the Wildcats this week to a national championship win.

More than 5,000 people welcomed the UA baseball team back to Tucson and campus on June 26 during the NCAA Baseball National Championship Recognition event hosted by Arizona Athletics at McKale Memorial Center. The team won the College World Series on June 25 against South Carolina.
