National Champs Honored at Chase Field

The 2012 Arizona baseball national championship team was honored before the Arizona Diamondbacks home game against the San Diego Padres at Chase Field last weekend. Arizona's fall practice season will begin on Oct. 8, and players will begin "skill hours" work on Sept. 4. The Wildcats will begin to defend their national title on Feb. 15 against Coppin State at Hi Corbett Field.

Arizona Men's Basketball No. 10 in ESPN's 50 in 50 Rankings

ESPN.com has released its rankings of the top-50 college basketball programs of the last 50 years, and the Wildcats checked in at No. 10. Arizona positives cited by the network include its streak of consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, four Final Fours, the 1997 national championship and the 2001 runner-up finish.

Former UA quarterback Nick Foles is becoming a sensation with the Philadelphia Eagles' fan base after completing 24 of 38 passes (63.2 percent) for 361 yards and four touchdowns in two preseason games. The Eagles selected Foles as the 88th overall pick in the draft.

Seven of UA’s Best Are Headed to the London Paralympics

UA athletes Zachary Abbott, Bryan Barten, Jordan Bird, Tanner Gers, Adam Kellerman, Jennifer Poist and Noah Yablong will compete during the 2012 Paralympics, which will run Aug. 29 through Sept 9. Their countless hours of dedication to wheelchair tennis, basketball and track and field, as well as visually impaired track and field, will be tested in London among the world’s best.

UA Engineering Grad Training Hard for 2012 Paralympics

Noah Yablong, a UA engineering management graduate and adaptive sports athlete, will play for Team USA in the Paralympic Games. Yablong, a top wheelchair tennis player with a world ranking of 58 and a U.S. Tennis Association ranking of 4, played for the UA wheelchair tennis team during his undergraduate studies at the UA.

Olympics Roundup: Wildcats Bring Home Five Medals

The five medals won by Wildcat athletes in London boosted Arizona's total to 63 (26 gold/23 silver/14 bronze) Olympic medals all-time. In fact, UA athletes have claimed at least one medal in every Olympiad since 1968. A total of 113 athletes have made 178 appearances in the Games.
