Arizona Wins Fourth Straight Territorial Cup Series

Arizona once again has captured the Territorial Cup Series title, edging Arizona State University, 9.5-8.5, across 18 men's and women's sports in the 2012-13 athletics season. Said Director of Athletics Greg Byrne: "We are very proud of our student-athletes and coaches who helped us secure the fourth-straight Territorial Cup Series."

Tedy Bruschi Named to CFB Hall of Fame

Former Arizona defensive lineman Tedy Bruschi is the fourth Arizona football player to be inducted in the NFF College Football Hall of Fame and the third in the last five years. Bruschi (1991-95) ended his UA career with 52 sacks, tied for the most in NCAA history. He was a consensus All-American in 1994 and a unanimous All-American in 1995.

The UA's Davellyn Whyte Selected in WNBA Draft

Senior Davellyn Whyte has made Arizona women's basketball history after being picked 16th overall by the San Antonio Stars in the WNBA draft this week. With the pick, Whyte became the highest drafted player in Arizona women's basketball history. Ify Ibekwe was picked 24th by the Seattle Storm in 2011, and Adia Barnes was selected 32nd by the Sacramento Monarchs in 1998.

Four-time All-American swimmer Kevin Cordes has become the fastest 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroker, shattering records in both events while competing for Arizona in the NCAA championships. Cordes, a UA sophomore, was named NCAA Swimmer of the Year after shattering the records.

Sophomore Chelsea Falnes came to the UA not just to pursue her degree in special education. She was recruited from Wisconsin to play quad rugby for the UA Adaptive Athletics Program offered through the Disability Resource Center. Quad Rugby Team Coach Bryan Barten describes Falnes, who serves as the team captain, as "an impact player."

Wildcats Head to Sweet 16

The No. 6 seed Arizona men's basketball team will open play in the 2013 NCAA West Regional semifinal against No. 2 seed Ohio State on March 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This will mark the second trip to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 under head coach Sean Miller and Arizona's 15th trip to the regional semifinals in program history.
