If you've got kids who can't wait for Halloween, you can kick things off a day early by paying a visit to a safe trick-or-treating event being held on campus Friday.
The Halloween Spooktacular, presented by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Club Arizona, a club designed to connect youth with the UA through a variety of outreach events, will feature trick-or-treating booths with UA student-athletes, a costume contest, giveaways and other activities, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The event precedes the UA volleyball game against Washington, which starts at 7 p.m. at McKale Memorial Center. Club Arizona members who show their membership cards will pay only $1 for admission. Regular admission is $6 per person. Any child in grades K-12 can sign up to be a Club Arizona member on the club's Web site.
Kids are asked to come in costume and will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat at booths set up by various UA sports teams. At least 30 student-athletes in uniform are expected to participate, said Courtney Anthony, Arizona Athletics community service and special events coordinator.
The event takes place in the plaza outside the Jim Click Hall of Champions, which is on the north side of McKale Memorial Center.
