UA Officials Monitoring Swine Flu Situation

As state health officials announced today that the first confirmed case of swine flu was reported in Arizona, key officials with The University of Arizona continued to meet and monitor the outbreak closely.

The first Arizona case was reported in Maricopa County, where an 8-year-old boy was confirmed to have suffered from swine flu. He is reported to have made a full recovery. As of this afternoon, there are no suspected or confirmed cases of swine flu reported in Pima County.

The statement issued by University of Arizona officials earlier this week regarding swine flu and travel to Mexico is now available in a Spanish translation. It is posted online at Lo Que Pasa. The English version is available at UANews.org.

Supervisors with employees who use Spanish as their primary language are encouraged to share this translation with them in person or via e-mail or physical posting. Members of the campus community also are encouraged to share this information with students whose primary language is Spanish.
