Four University of Arizona men's basketball players earned postseason honors from the Pacific-10 Conference on Monday.
Chase Budinger and Jordan Hill were both named to first-team. Nic Wise made the second team and Kyle Fogg garnered honorable mention on the all-freshman team. The league's head coaches made the selections.
Budinger, a 6-foot-7, 231-pound junior forward from Encinitas, Calif., averaged 18.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in 31 regular-season appearances.
He shot 48.3 percent (193-of-400) from the field and 42.9 percent (63-of-147) from three-point range.
Budinger ranks among the Pac-10 leaders in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals (1.5 spg), free throw percentage (.817), three-point field goals made (2.0 per game), three-point percentage, assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4:1) and minutes played (37.5). He scored in double figures 28 times this year, including 14 games with at least 20 points. He was a third-team all-conference pick last season and the 2007 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year.
Hill, a 6-foot-10, 235-pound junior forward from Atlanta, Ga., was both a first-team all-Pac-10 and all-defensive team selection after averaging 18.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocked shots per game in 30 appearances.
He shot 55.4 percent (225-of-406) from the field and led the conference with 17 double-doubles (more than 10 points and 10 rebounds per game).
Hill scored in double figures a team-leading 29 times this year, including a high of 30 on Jan. 24 against the University of Houston, and posted 18 double-figure rebounding games with a high of 22 on Nov. 18 against the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Hill was an honorable mention all-Pac-10 and all-defensive team selection last year.
Wise, a 5-foot-10, 177-pound junior guard from Houston, Texas, was an second-team all-Pac-10 pick after averaging 15.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in 31 appearances.
He shot 45.0 percent (152-of-338) from the field, 42.4 percent from three-point range (59-of-139) and 83.1 percent (103-of-124) from the free throw line to go with a team-leading 47 steals. He scored in double figures 23 times this season, including seven 20-point games. It is the first time he has been honored by the league.
Fogg, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound freshman guard from Brea, Calif., was an honorable mention Pac-10 all-freshman team selection after averaging 6.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in 31 appearances.
He shot 46.8 percent (59-of-126) from the field and ranks third on the team in assists and steals. Fogg started in 23 games, averaging 23.0 minutes per game, while posting seven double-figure scoring games.
Arizona (19-12, 9-9 Pac-10) plays March 12 against rival Arizona State at the 2009 Pacific Life Pac-10 Tournament in Los Angeles. The game will tip-off at noon local time and will be televised nationally by FOX Sports Net.
