The UA men's swimming team won its national championship one week after the women's team achieved the same feat.

Brandy Collins and Lacey Nymeyer celebrate a national title.
The University of Arizona men's and women's swimming teams will cap off a banner year, which included two national championships and several swimmers participating in the 2008 Olympic Games, with a visit to the White House.
Led by their coach Frank Busch, the teams will meet President George W. Bush and tour the White House on Wednesday.
Following their tour, they will take a photograph with the president, present him with a team gift and join him on the South Lawn as he makes remarks congratulating the NCAA champions.
Their activities that day begin with a tour of many of Washington's most famous monuments and lunch on the National Mall.
Following their visit to the White House, the teams will tour the U.S. Capitol and take a photograph outside the Supreme Court.
Their day will continue with a celebratory dinner on Capitol Hill, where they will be joined by UA alumni and representatives of Arizona's congressional delegation. Their day will conclude with a practice at the University of Maryland-College Park.
On consecutive weekends, the UA men's and women's swim teams won their first national championships. Both team won their titles in convincing fashion, with the women's team besting second-place Auburn by 136 points and the men finishing 94 points ahead of second-place Texas.
The national championships were followed with more success for UA swimming and diving at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. A total of 18 swimmers, divers and coaches with ties to the UA participated in the Olympic Games. Current team member Lacey Nymeyer took home the silver medal in the 4 x 100-meter freestyle relay and Matt Grevers – who trains at the UA – won both a silver and gold medal.
