The High Occupancy Vehicle Training Program offered through Risk Management and Safety has been expanded to include drivers of all full-size vans, stake bed trucks and any vehicle used to tow a trailer.

Drivers should complete training by Sunday, April 30.

The training requirement is applicable to anyone driving any vehicle on University business that includes: all full size vans and sport utility vehicles, including Suburbans and Expeditions; any other vehicle with seating capacity of nine or greater; full size stake bed trucks and any vehicle used to tow a trailer.

The University's liability is associated with the driver, not vehicle ownership. Because of this, the training requirement applies to vehicles from the UA Motorpool, UA departmental vehicles, private rental companies, and privately owned vehicles used on University business.

Each unit is responsible for maintaining compliance with the training requirement for drivers under their direction and control.

Risk Management and Safety provides the required training program on a regular basis. Contact Risk Management and Safety at 621.1790 to pre-register for a training session.
