Arizona Well-Represented in 2012 Olympics

As of July 9, 21 athletes with Arizona ties were set to participate in the 2012 Olympic Games, with competition beginning July 27 and continuing through Aug. 16. The sports represented include basketball, soccer, cycling, track and field and swimming and diving.

Three Ford/Zona Swimmers Headed to 2012 Olympic Games

Matt Grevers, Clark Burckle and Alyssa Anderson will compete in the 2012 Olympic Games, which begin July 27. Of the 56 swimmers that competed for the UA and Tucson Ford Aquatics at the Olympic Trials, there were 18 appearances in final rounds and 28 in semifinals.

Arizona Brings Biggest Team to Olympic Swimming Trials

The UA swimming team and Tucson Ford Aquatics travel to the Olympic trials this week in Omaha, Neb. The teams, known as Ford and Zona at the trials, have qualified 56 athletes – more than any other team in the country – for the event. The trials run through July 2 and will be televised.

The UA men's and women's track and field program will have current student-athletes, alumni and volunteer assistant coaches competing at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. The trials run June 21 through July 1 and will be televised.

UA Divers to Compete in Olympic Trials

Arizona divers Ben Grado and Samantha Pickens are traveling to Federal Way, Wash. this week to compete in the 2012 Olympic Diving Trials. The trials will receive 14 hours of broadcast coverage on NBC and NBC Sports Network from June 19-24.

Wildcat to Play for Colombian Soccer Team at Olympics

UA sophomore and student-athlete Ana-Maria Montoya has been training to play soccer for Colombia's team. Colombia will begin a series of pre-Olympic tune-up matches against German team FFC Turbine Potsdam on July 4. with the Olympic campaign's first group match set for July 25.
