Arizona Bell to Hang Again in UA Student Union

subell1.jpg

Workers remove the bell housed in the UA Student Union Memorial early on the morning of Nov. 18, 2000.

Workers will haul the U.S.S. Arizona's ship's bell out of storage this week to hang it in the soon-to-be-completed Student Union Memorial Center.

The nearly one-ton bell was rescued by a Navy veteran/UA grad following WWII and housed for decades in the tower of the former Student Union before that building was demolished last year. The event is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 16, at 8 a.m. Media crews are asked to meet with Chris Kraft at 7:30 a.m. at the entrance to the bookstore on the north side of the Student Union.
