Eller College Takes 1st, 2nd in Fierce, State-Wide Case Event

Masters in business administration students from the Eller College of Business and Public Administration took first and second place at the Arizona Statewide Case Competition sponsored by Intel in Phoenix on Feb. 23. The competition's featured case study was "Hewlett-Packard, Europe," a Harvard Business School case.

First place winners were Cort Chalfant, Mike Rivers, and John Otto, members of the Eller College's Week-end MBA cohort. Second place honors went to first- year MBA students Alyssa Alexander, Jim Butler, Evan Green and Charlie Bayless.

Seventeen UA teams competed in preliminary rounds at the Eller College last fall with the three winning teams representing the Eller College at the state-wide event. Arizona State University (ASU) also sent three winning teams to the competition after a preliminary round that also consisted of 17 teams.

Judges for the Arizona Statewide Case Competition 2001 were: Steve Rowe andAdam Risch of Intel Corp.; J.R. Wilson of America West; Tom Fencl of Bankof America Securities; and, Robert Norton of Accenture.
