The University of Arizona will be well represented this week at the 2009 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships with 20 current or former Wildcats in the water.

The Championships, which run through Saturday, will be held in the Indiana University Natatorium. The swimmers will be vying for a spot on the U.S. World Championships team to compete in the FINA World Championships in Rome, July 17-Aug. 2.

Among the current Wildcats competing are senior Marcus Titus, who is swimming the breaststroke competitions, sophomore Alyssa Anderson in freestyle and butterfly events and senior Jack Brown in the individual medley's and breaststroke competitions.

A few international Wildcats will also be in the water using the U.S. nationals as a last-chance meet before they swim in Rome. Senior-to-be Jean Basson, who is on the South African national roster for Rome along with UA graduate and Venezuelan team member Albert Subirats will swim against America's best.

Beijing Olympics gold medalist and Frank Busch trainee Matt Grevers will be one of the favorites in Indy this week. Grevers will compete in the 100 and 200 backstroke, 50 and 100 freestyle as well as on relay teams.

Two of Arizona's Canadian standouts, Jake Tapp and Joel Greenshields, will be in action as well, only they will be in Montreal looking to represent Canada later this summer in Rome.
