The Union Gallery is proud to present “Positive Change,” a collection of two thematic print exhibitions designed to explore how the Middle East has informed relations of art. Representing the work of almost 50 artists, these prints stem from two past exhibitions: “Re-Interpreting the Middle East: Beyond the Historical Stereotype” and “Re-Interpreting the Middle East II: Re-Thinking Today's Terminology.” These artists, all from varying nationalities and backgrounds, attempt to become active participants in the dissemination of today’s visual propaganda and its representation of the Middle East.
Artist, curator and organizer May Hariri Aboutaam will share her experiences in creating these exhibitions at 6 p.m. on Jan. 23 in the gallery. Educational material for students and teachers will be available at the front desk. Admission is free for all guests.
