Retired Whirlpool Vice President Joins Eller College of Management

Barry Holt is joining the college as an executive mentor in the MBA Business Communication Program.
Barry Holt, retired vice president of global communications of Whirlpool Corp., is joining The University of Arizona's Eller College of Management as an executive mentor in the MBA Business Communication Program.
Holt will continue to serve as a guest lecturer in the program. For the past several years, he has assisted in delivering a course designed to prepare MBA students for both corporate crisis communication and communicating with investors.
"Our new executive mentors will coach MBA students, as well as step in to provide enhanced classroom experiences," said Diza Sauers, assistant director of the Business Communication Program. "Barry will assist with simulations, serve as a lecturer on guest topics, and provide support for various programmatic initiatives."
Holt retired from Whirlpool in June 2004, after more than 35 years in public relations and corporate communications. He is currently working as a corporate communications consultant, including serving as senior adviser of communications to Information Services Group Inc., in Stamford, Conn.
Holt was named corporate vice president, global communications, of Whirlpool in July 2000. He came to Whirlpool from ACNielsen Corp., where he served as senior vice president of global communications.
Before joining ACNielsen, Holt worked for the Philip Morris Companies Inc. in New York, as vice president, corporate communications. He also was director, public affairs, for Pepsi-Cola International in Somers, NY. Earlier in his career, Holt was vice president and client services manager for Burson-Marsteller in New York.
Holt was twice named a "Public Relations All Star" by Inside PR magazine. He is an elected member of the Arthur Page Society, the Public Relations Seminar, the Wisemen (an elite group of public relations professionals), and the Council of Corporate Communications Executives of The Conference Board.
