DESCRIPTION:James Riley\, associate professor of soil\, water and environmental science at The University of Arizona\, will talk about effective methods of conserving water right in your own backyard. Rainwater harvesting is a technology that involves collecting and storing rainwater through simple methods\, such as buckets and barrels\, or more complex systems\, like cisterns. After receiving his doctorate in hydrology from the UA\, Riley spent 18 years working on international agriculture projects in Asia and Africa\,. As a UA professor\, Riley teaches water harvesting techniques and implements water harvesting projects.
