University of Arizona student Sara Pat Badgley is a citizen reporter covering the Republican National Convention being held in St. Paul, Minn. this week.
Badgley, the winner of "Decision08 Convention Contest" held by the MySpace social networking site, has been conducting interviews with delegates, convention visitors and elected officials.
Badgely has published an interview she conducted with actress Rosario Dawson, who is also a co-founder of Voto Latino – a nonpartisan organization that works to increase voter registrations within the Latino community. Badgley is studying communication, journalism and political science at the UA and interned for Sen. Jon Kyl in the fall of 2007. She is currently an intern for state Sen. Tim Bee.
Badgley was awarded free travel and lodging along with an invitation to cover the convention with full press credentials by creating a video that answered the question, "How will you stand out in the crowd and get the scoop no one else can?"
Out of the hundreds of entries received, five finalists were selected and nearly 50,000 votes were cast by MySpace users, who named Badgley as their choice to cover the Republican National Convention.
