New at the Student Union

The Student Union Memorial Center hosts the University's catering and food service and also offers meeting and lounge spaces, has several galleries and is the home site for numerous student organizations and units.
The Arizona Student Unions has seen a number of changes and enhancements this year, with more to come.
Not since it opened in 2003 have there been so many changes in The University of Arizona's Student Union Memorial Center.
With new restaurants, a new beverage provider and a contest for all students, faculty and staff to name an eatery – things are hopping at the campus hub.
New Cellar Restaurant and Naming Contest
Just a few steps below ground, the Cellar will feature a bistro-like restaurant and redesigned common spaces for students. These spaces will have upgraded computers, a video gaming room and a portable performing stage.
The yet-to-be-named restaurant will have an entirely new concept: featuring high quality, environmentally sound and reasonably priced food.
Using ingredients such as free-range, grass-fed cattle that are humanely processed along with sustainable and environmentally friendly seafood, UA students, faculty and staff are certain to enjoy a unique dining experience.
The restaurant will have an emphasis on whole grains, seasonal fruits and vegetables and will also offer hormone- and antibiotic-free chicken. Organic greens and natural dairy choices round out the menu. Table service will be featured with a focus on customer service.
What’s left to do? Name the eatery.
In a contest that began Aug. 25, all members of the UA family can submit names for the campus population to vote on. A similar concept was used last year for the popular Core restaurant, which also is located in the Student Union.
Savvy Students
As a result of the Student Affairs fee implemented this fall, a variety of initiatives are being implemented across campus. One of the most visible to students will be the availability of meals at reduced prices in the Student Union at lunchtime on Wednesdays.
Fro-Yo Yogurt
In response to student's requests and hearty desire for frozen yogurt, Cactus Grill is unveiling "Fro-Yo," offering premium frozen yogurt available with an infinite variety of fruit toppings and granola. Customers can customize their concoctions to their own individual style.
Starbucks
The newest Student Union partner, Starbucks, opened recently in the UA BookStore’s flagship store in the Union.
The new Starbucks store is a joint partnership between the UA BookStores and the Arizona Student Unions.
Bill Shiba, Arizona Student Unions director, said, “Starbucks on campus is the end result of a close collaboration and partnership between the UA BookStores and Arizona Student Unions. We know that Starbucks brings a great product to our students, faculty and staff and we’re very excited to have them join the UA family.”
Starbucks will be open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends.
Coca-Cola
As the exclusive beverage provider for the UA, Coca-Cola products will be offered in every fountain machine at all University-operated dining locations on the UA’s main campus.
