Starbucks Opens in the Union

Starbucks is one of the newest additions at the Student Union Memorial Center.

A new-but familiar-face will be unveiled at The University of Arizona before the majority of students even arrive on campus this fall.

Starbucks will open Tuesday in the UA BookStore's flagship store, located in the Student Union Memorial Center.

The new Starbucks will complement Canyon Café in the Student Union, said David Galbraith, director of campus dining services

Galbraith said he anticipates that those on campus will find "more options to meeting their coffee needs."

Canyon Café will continue to operate and serve hot and cold espresso, coffee, tea, blended drinks and Italian sodas.

The new Starbucks store is a joint partnership between the UA Bookstores and the Arizona Student Unions.

Bill Shiba, Arizona Student Unions director, said the opening is the "end result of a close collaboration and partnership between the UA Bookstores and Arizona Student Unions. We know that Starbucks brings a great product to our students, faculty and staff and we're very excited to have them join the UA family."

Frank Farias, UA BookStores director, added, "We are very excited to continue our efforts in enhancing the experience of visiting the official campus BookStore. It is very important for the BookStore to have a welcoming environment that our students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors can enjoy."
