Shelton Names Interim Dean of Phoenix Medical College

University of Arizona President Robert N. Shelton today announced the appointment of Dr. Stuart Flynn, as the interim dean of the UA College of Medicine – Phoenix in partnership with Arizona State University, effective immediately.

Flynn has been serving as the associate dean for academics at the UA College of Medicine – Phoenix since June 2006. Flynn replaces Dr. Ted Shortliffe, who announced April 13 that he will step down as the campus dean and return to faculty status at the end of this week.

"I am delighted Dr. Flynn will take on this responsibility and I know that with your support he will be most successful in leading the campus through this transition," Shelton said in a memorandum to all College of Medicine faculty and staff.

Shelton also announced that a search committee would be formed to begin the search for the permanent dean at the Phoenix campus. The search is expected to be completed sometime in the fall.
