Contest Offers Chance to Recognize Moms at UA Women's Plaza of Honor

Women's Plaza of Honor
UA women's studies and WOSAC are partnering with a local radio station, asking listeners to send in stories about their mothers.
The University of Arizona women's studies department and the Women's Studies Advisory Council hope to raise support for the Women's Plaza of Honor with a special campaign honoring mothers.
In celebration of Mother's Day, the department and the council are holding a contest with radio station KWMT, 92.9 The Mountain. Contestants will submit stories about mother or mother figures, with five winners receiving an engraved paver in the plaza plus other prizes.
Selected entries will be read on the air between now and May 9. Mother's Day is May 11.
The Women’s Plaza of Honor, located on the UA campus just west of Centennial Hall, publicly and permanently celebrates women who have made significant contributions to the history of Arizona or have enriched the lives of others.
The women’s studies department encourages the Tucson community to support the Women's Plaza of Honor by participating in the contest.
To enter the contest, visit The Mountain's Web site.
Entering the contest is not a requirement for leaving a permanent legacy for a mother. To reserve a place for a special woman, visit the UA Women’s Plaza of Honor Web site.
