Campus Open During Power Outage - 2:50 p.m. UPDATE

Operations at The University of Arizona have returned to normal. Tucson Electric Power has advised that the cause of the power outage has been addressed.
Traffic lights around campus are functioning normally, and restrictions on the use of campus elevators have been lifted.
The UA Campus Emergency Response Team has concluded emergency operations and at 2:42 p.m. issued an "all clear" text message to the University community.
Many parts of west Tucson were affected by the power outage, including nearly all of The University of Arizona main campus and Arizona Health Sciences Center.
The campus remained open.
University laboratories were instructed to shut down all chemical process and fume hoods.
Two UAlert emergency text messages were sent within minutes of the 10:30 power outage.
12:30 p.m. Update
Tucson Electric Power has advised that the power outage affecting west Tucson and most of The University of Arizona may continue causing sporadic outages for much of the afternoon. Power has been restored to most of the UA main campus and Arizona Health Sciences Center.
Safety precautions:
- Avoid using campus elevators until further notice.
- Drive with extreme caution around campus, as traffic lights may be out. Look for uniformed officers to direct traffic.
Key operational updates as of noon:
- All fire and other alarm systems are operational.
- The Campus Health Center is open.
- The Student Union Memorial Center is open and serving food.
- CatTran shuttles are on schedule.
- Power has been restored to all residence halls.

Power to the U of A has been restored and reg ops have resumed. It is OK to use elevators at this time. This is an all clear.
Alert 4 - 12:01 p.m.
Due to the power being spotty avoid using campus elevators until further advised.
Alert 3 - 11:34 a.m.
Power outage affecting UA and Tucson. Campus remains open. Use caution while driving due to many traffic lights being out.
Alert 2 - 10:55 a.m.
Per Risk Management shut down all chemical process and fume hoods due to power being out.
Alert 1 - 10:52 a.m.
Power out around the campus. Traffic lights are also out. Crews are working on the problem. Campus is open.
