The Southern Arizona Language Fair is expected to draw 2,000 students from around the state.

More than 2,000 people from across the state, ranging in age from kindergarten to college, are expected to attend 2008 Southern Arizona Language Fair, being held on The University of Arizona campus on April 12.

The daylong fair, hosted by the K-16 Partnership Across Languages and now in its 13th year, is for students studying second languages and offers competitions in poetry and drama, multicultural booths and activities, art contests and exhibits, and performances.

Activities will include informal language lessons, a Chinese lion dance, software instruction for less commonly taught languages, a Brazilian drum and dance ensemble, Spanish for heritage learners and information about study abroad programs.

A complete list of activities, times, locations, participants and sponsors can be found on the UA College of Humanities Web site.
