Kisiel Lecture to Address Water Resources in Developing Nations

Steven Gorelick, a Stanford University geological and environmental sciences professor, will speak about water resources and sustainability in developing countries. His talk – taking place on March 26 at 4 p.m. at the Center for Creative Photography Auditorium – is part of the Chester C. Kisiel Annual Memorial Lecture series.

Gorelick’s talk is titled “Water Resources in Developing Nations: Two Cases of Supply Dynamics and Allocation.”

Gorelick holds the Cyrus F. Tolman chair in earth sciences at Stanford University, where he has been a faculty member for 20 years, after working at the United States Geological Survey for eight years.

A hydrologist by training, his major research interests are currently in the areas of sustainable water management and ecohydrology. Steve runs the Stanford hydrogeology program and has co-authored numerous journal papers, two books and three patents.

In 2005, Steve was named a Guggenheim Fellow to support the study of global oil depletion, another of his interests.
