Project Vote Smart and the UA political science department will host a discussion about campaign finance.

Project Vote Smart and The University of Arizona will present the political discussion “Show Me the Money: Campaign Finance Issues and Controversies” on April 1 at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel.

Eric Ehst, executive director of the Clean Elections Institute, and UA professor of political science Tom Volgy will discuss the increasing expense of political campaigns and the impacts of court rulings on campaign finance.

The “First Tuesday Forums on American Democracy and Elections” are hosted by Project Vote Smart and the UA political science department.

“The forums are a chance for us to start defending ourselves now, at the local level, against the rhetoric and spin as we go into primary season and the presidential election year. The topics we're covering in the forums are crucial to voters,” said Mia Ibarra, director of Project Vote Smart’s UA office.

In 2007, Project Vote Smart moved a significant part of its research operations to the UA campus, involving students and faculty in compiling and analyzing the data for which Project Vote Smart has become famous.

The UA site allows Project Vote Smart to recruit student interns and volunteers year-round. Currently, about 45 UA students intern at Project Vote Smart each semester.
