Parents and Family Association Accepting Grant Proposals

Applications are due April 4 for grants that assist programs with real and immediate needs and that serve large numbers of undergraduate students.

The University of Arizona Parents and Family Association is accepting grant proposals for programs and services that will benefit undergraduate students.

The association provides grants to programs that have real and immediate needs and serve large numbers of undergraduate students. Previously successful grants have supported programs that work to reduce out-of-pocket textbook expenses for students, improve Web-based communication on campus and help students with job searches using powerful technology-based tools. Information about these and other successful grants is available at http://www.uafamily.arizona.edu/parentassoccomm.php.

Grant proposals must meet the following criteria:

  • Proposals must originate from faculty members or administrators at the level of director, department head or higher. The director or department head will be responsible for disbursements and expenditures of the funds within the fiscal year and will provide a written report detailing outcomes and financial accounting of grant funds.
  • Each proposal should be no longer than five pages (including cover page). The original proposal plus 20 copies must be sent to Barbara Camp, Dean of Students Office, Old Main 202, P.O. Box 210021, Tucson, AZ 85721.

Each proposal also should include (in the following order):

  • An overview of the department/program seeking funding.
  • An abstract/brief summary of the grant proposal.
  • A detailed statement (no more than one page) of the proposal and how the proposal would benefit as many students as possible and meet real and immediate student needs.
  • An itemized budget with estimates and descriptions of costs. Please also include additional funding sources, including current University support.
  • A statement about how the desired outcomes would be measured/assessed.

Grants cannot exceed $25,000 and there is no automatic renewal of funding.

Completed proposals are due April 4 at noon. The association will make award decisions on May 16.
