The Financial Times has once again recognized the Eller College of Management's Chris and Carol McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship and the management information systems department in its global top 10.
The 2008 full-time Financial Times rankings list the McGuire Center as the No. 6 entreprenuership program in the world for the second year in a row, and MIS is ranked No. 9 globally in the first year of the rankings’ information technology specialty category. The two programs have maintained top rankings worldwide since their inceptions at The University of Arizona.
Alumni feedback is the sole criterion used to develop the Financial Times specialty rankings, which evaluates business schools from around the world.
"The ability to start new businesses and to manage information efficiently and effectively are critical skills in the 21st century workforce," said Paul R. Portney, dean of the Eller College of Management. "Our alumni understand the value of their Eller College education, and want to recognize the excellence of the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship and the MIS department."
McGuire Center Director Sherry Hoskinson said, “We are proud to have one of the oldest and best-respected entrepreneurship centers in the country at the UA. The McGuire Center continually seeks opportunities for advancement within its curriculum, so it produces graduates who understand and contribute to the developing knowledge economy."
The college's MBA program is ranked No. 27 in the nation in the 2008 Financial Times survey.
