Peter L. Kresan, UA senior lecturer emeritus and adjunct faculty member in geosciences, will start the evening with a short talk titled “Geoscience: Why Are There Mountains?”
Have you wondered how the Santa Catalina Mountains formed? Why are there mountains on the Earth’s surface? How is the formation of mountains related to plate tectonic processes? How is the presence of mountains on Earth linked to water? Can erosion make mountains higher? Where is the longest mountain range on Earth? What is the tallest mountain on Earth? How do major mountains belts impact global climate?
As a photographer, educator, geoscientist, public speaker, interpretive naturalist, author and consultant for more than 30 years, Kresan will help answer some of these questions.
A free appetizer will be served. The kitchen will be closed. Beverages will be available for purchase.
