ABOR Supports Budget Plan, University Funding Request

The Arizona Board of Regents has approved a resolution to support Gov. Jan Brewer's fiscal year 2014 budget proposal, which calls for $58.6 million in new money for the state's public university enterprise. The request includes $8 million for further development of the UA College of Medicine-Phoenix.

NBA Legend Bill Walton to Speak on Life, Basketball as Part of Pac-12 Tour

Basketball legend Bill Walton will give a free talk on the UA campus on Feb. 6, co-sponsored by the School of Journalism. The UA is one of nine stops on Walton's speaking tour across the Pac‐12 Conference. While in town, Walton also will announce the UA vs. Stanford basketball game on Feb. 8.

Campus Pantry to Open at UA

In line with other colleges and universities across the U.S., the University of Arizona is introducing an emergency food pantry for students, faculty and staff. To help UA students and employees with immediate food needs, a group established the UA Campus Pantry, which will launch Feb. 1 on the first floor of El Portal, the site for Residence Life offices.

UA Spring Fling Could Return to Campus in 2014

After years of planning, members of the Associated Students of the UA are pushing to bring Spring Fling back to campus for its 40th anniversary next spring. Spring Fling has been off campus for about 10 years. The plan is to bring the event back on campus for the anniversary in hopes of fueling attendance and revenue.

UA South in Sierra Vista Gets New Name

The UA South headquarters in Sierra Vista has been renamed UA Sierra Vista, effective this week. UA Sierra Vista is one of a number of UA locations serving students outside the Tucson community, through 21 degree programs and a wide range of continuing education programs and educational services.
