UA Joins Green Sports Alliance

For its commitment to sustainability in athletic facilities and programming, the UA has been accepted to the Green Sports Alliance, a national nonprofit organization that aims to help sports teams, venues and leagues enhance environmental performance. Among the environmentally friendly athletic facilities on campus is the Student Recreation Center, the first facility of its kind in the country to achieve Platinum LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Tucson Grew, and Changed, with Statehood

The UA is deeply rooted in Tucson's history. In 1916, UA students painted a 70- by 160-foot "A" on Sentinel Peak, thereby christening "A" Mountain. As Tucson entered the 21st century, the UA led an advanced-technology business revolution with numerous lunar and planetary spacecraft and astronomy programs, making the UA one of the region's largest employers.

UA Named Top 'Green' School by Princeton Review

The University of Arizona has been named among the top "green" colleges in the country in "The Princeton Review's Guide to 322 Green Colleges: 2013 Edition." The guidebook, released just in time for Earth Day on April 22, reviews colleges' commitments to sustainability in academic offerings, campus infrastructure, activities and career preparation.

Kindness Project Changes Lives, Expands Reach One Act at a Time

On the UA campus, students trade Ben's Bells bracelets as part of the Be Kind, Step Up program, which encourages students to acknowledge acts of kindness by passing on the bracelet. Ben's Bells also has partnered with the UA on kindness education programming and eventually be part of a study that will evaluate the effects of those programs.

UA Law Students Will See Tuition Decrease in 2013-14

The Arizona Board of Regents has approved the UA's tuition proposal for 2013-14, sharply reducing overall tuition for law students and modestly increasing base tuition for undergraduate, graduate and medical students. Tuition revenue will support key initiatives including the retention and graduation of students, seeding research and making engagement experiences possible for all students, among other priorities.
