Talk and Book Signing with Alan Weisman

The Institute of the Environment and the School of Journalism invite you to meet bestselling author Alan Weisman.

He will discuss his book "Countdown: Our Last, Best Hope for a Future on Earth?" It is his follow-up to "The World Without Us," in which he considered how the world could heal and even refill empty niches if it was relieved of humanity's constant pressures.

For "Countdown," Weisman traveled to 21 countries to study prospects for a planet that is adding a million more inhabitants every four to five days. Weisman shares alarming projections about our ability to keep feeding growing multitudes but he also reveals some startling successes.

Weisman will also be signing books and taking questions.
