Speaker Lane Van Ham is the author of "A Common Humanity: Ritual, Religion and Immigrant Advocacy in Tucson, Arizona" and specializes in religious dimensions of attitudes toward immigrants to the United States. He is a professor of English at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Mo., and co-chair of the Religions, Peace and Social Conflict group of the American Academy of Religion.
