Family Days at the Poetry Center
Family Days is a Saturday open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for youth of all ages and their families at the UA Poetry Center. Once a month, the stacks of the center's world-renowned collection of poetry become overrun with youth writing, local music, games, interactive bookmaking workshops, science experiments, storytelling, creative movement activities and other poem-happenings that are designed to inspire youth and their families to explore the world around them through language. Poetry Joeys workshops, including an infant and toddler singalong class, are scheduled from 10-11 a.m.
- 10-11 a.m. Poetry Joeys workshops for three age groups: infants, ages 4-6, ages 7-10
- 10:30-11:30 a.m. Yoga, multilingual story time, book club for 11+
- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drop-in activities and games
Special guest on Jan. 26: Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures will bring a variety of hands-on writing activities and mini book-making centered around the museum's collection of miniatures.
The 11+ book club features fun readind and writing activities based around a particular book. Participants need not have read the book prior to participation. This month's book is "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" by Kate DiCamillo.
