An Evening With Author Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot

Guest speaker and renowned sociologist Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot, author of 10 books including "Exit: The Endings That Set Us Free" and "The Third Chapter: Passion, Risk and Adventure in the 25 Years After 50," comes to Human Resources' special event that is part of its ongoing series, "The Road Ahead to Academic Retirement."

Through her writings and interviews, Lawrence-Lightfoot offers wisdom and perspective about the possibility of moving on and opens the conversation about how to make our exits with purposefulness, dignity and grace.

A fellow at both the Bunting Institute and Stanford University's Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, Lawrence-Lightfoot is the recipient of more than 25 honorary degrees from higher education institutions throughout the United States and Canada. Her awards and achievements over the past 40 years include The MacArthur Prize in Education, Harvard University's Ledlie Prize for research that "makes the most valuable contribution to science and the benefit of mankind," Swarthmore's Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot Chair Endowed Professorship, the Emily Hargroves Fisher Endowed Chair at Harvard University, and being named Margaret Mead Fellow by the Academy of Political and Social Sciences.
