Day of Mourning in Observance of the Tragedy in Newtown
The University of Arizona will participate in observing a Day of Mourning for the victims of the tragic shootings that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., on Dec. 14. In proclaiming Dec. 21 as a Day of Mourning, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer asked the citizens of the state to observe the day with a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. In addition, the bell at the Student Union Memorial Center will be rung 26 times, once for each life taken.
