The University of Arizona

2012 Staff Advisory Council Crossroads Conference

The Staff Advisory Council looks forward to hosting its annual Crossroads Conference. This year’s event has once again arranged for some great sessions to benefit all employees. The conference fee includes all materials, workshops, continental breakfast and lunch. Workshops will cover topics such as employee resources, health choices and stress-free ideas for work and home. There will also be local vendors providing you with great service information and discount opportunities.

Deans, directors and department heads are encouraged to allow employees to participate in this professional development opportunity.

Cathy Nicholson is currently the director of human resources at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center and will be our morning keynote. Nicholson has been in HR management in higher education for more than 30 years, directing a variety of areas including employee relations, compensation, HR project management, institutional relations and HR-IT. Prior to her years at the UA, she worked at Penn State University, Illinois State University and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and has a Bachelor of Science in Management, as well as HRCI certification as a senior professional in human resources.

Tannya R. Gaxiola, 2011 Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Business Woman of the Year, will be our afternoon keynote speaker. Tannya is the founder and president of QuikHelp, a legal document preparation service with two locations in Tucson. She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the UA and a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School. Gaxiola is a native Tucsonan and is active in the community.
